Material Analysis

We offer our lab clients a wide variety of analytical instrumentation and experience that is not available at any other industrial hygiene laboratory! The instrumentation we offer can identify most materials including plastics, metals and volatile organic compounds.

State-of-the-art analytical techniques available

  • Environmental Scanning Electron Microscopy (ESEM)
Using the ESEM, we can view your samples under extremely high magnifications (20-400,000X); and analyze your air samples for particle size and for elemental composition.
  • Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR)
The FTIR can identify types of plastics and polymer additives.
  • X-Ray Diffraction (XRD)
XRD is used for the analysis and identification of crystalline materials, such as silica quartz.
  • Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS)
The GC/MS is used for the identification of unknown volatile organic compounds.
  • Metallurgical Analysis
Using the metalography and microhardness testing, we can characterize your metal samples.
  • Supplemental Organic Scan (SOS)
Do you ever wonder if you really know ALL of the potentially harmful chemicals in the air? The lab can help identify and report extra compounds detected on your routine organic samples at no charge to you.
  • Additional Metals Identification
Like SOS, we can take the guesswork out of your industrial hygiene sampling by automatically identifying and reporting extra metals detected on your routine samples.
  • Ultimate Detection Limits
We use the latest technology to provide you with results. In fact, we just developed a new sub-ppb IC/ICPMS method for hexavalent chromium.
