Recognized as one of G.I. Jobs Top 50 Military-Friendly Employers, Travelers is committed to hiring transitioning service personnel and others with military experience. Through their strong foundation in the areas of leadership, discipline and pride, we believe those with military experience have the talent and drive to make our company even more successful.
Travelers values the knowledge employees with military experience bring to their job, including leadership and problem solving abilities, team work and tenacity. “We find that military veterans bring dedication and discipline to their roles, and that they seek and accept responsibility readily,” said John Clifford, executive vice president of Human Resources. “The skills they learned during their military service transition well to any position within our company.”
Travelers actively recruits transitioning junior military officers, service personnel and military spouses for the following positions:
Visit the Featured Opportunities for Military Personnel page for more information about these positions.
To show our commitment to our employees who are called to active duty, Travelers has policies for reservists that make deployment as smooth as possible, such as continuation of benefits and pay. The company provides full benefits and supplements employee’s military pay for the duration of their deployment.
Travelers also acknowledges that employees’ skills and interests can change while deployed. Upon their return to work, recruiters are available to meet and determine if current positions are still the best fit for the employee.
To further demonstrate our appreciation for those who serve, Travelers has implemented several external initiatives that recognize the men and women who serve in the United States military. For the first time in 2010, the Travelers Championship held a Military Appreciation day, with special ticket offers and events for military personnel and their families. Fifty percent of the proceeds from each ticket sold to a veteran was donated to Birdies for the Brave, a PGA TOUR Charities, Inc. program that supports our country's armed forces.
To show our appreciation throughout the year, a small blue star has been added to the company's stationery. The star harkens back to a tradition that began during World War I, when flags were displayed at homes, businesses, schools and churches with blue stars used to indicate each active service member in the U.S. military. "The star is a daily reminder to all of us about the service of the young men and women who stand in harm's way every day," explained CEO Jay Fishman.
