Our approach to risk

One important part of staying in-synch with our commercial customers' needs is finding new ways to reduce risk and prevent loss that you might not have even considered. It could be as simple as storing your products in a different way; installing sprinklers in areas where they are needed most; changing distribution methods; or giving your employees a new, easier way to get the job done. Our broad experience in a range of industries has allowed us to build a vast knowledgebase of facts and ideas, as well as a team of bona fide risk management experts to help you. The end result – a business  that runs more smoothly and increases your profits.

Understanding Your Risk

How can you take advantage of our loss prevention and risk management expertise and knowledge? There are a couple of ways:

Benefit From Experience

Put our experience to work for you. Travelers Risk Control has resources that can help keep you informed about current safety issues that could affect your business.

Construction Executive magazine Combat Site Crime with Insurance Partnersrecently published an article called “Combat Site Crime with Insurance Partners” written by Scott Cornell, National Program Manager for Travelers Specialty Investigation Group and Chris Carey, Technical Director for Travelers Inland Risk Control. The article discusses theft and vandalism on construction sites and includes ways to help prevent losses related to equipment theft. Posted with permission from Construction Executive, December 2009.

Using Mobile Technology While DrivingDriver texting a message
It has been well documented that keying a mobile device, such as a cell phone or a PDA, while driving has been shown to increase the risk of motor vehicle accidents. In addition to following all local and state laws, Travelers strongly urges all drivers to park in a safe location before making a call, sending a text message or replying to an email. Read our supervisor guide for talking to staff about distracted driving and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Policy Statement on driving and mobile communications technology use.
