Travelers' Commitment to Employee Development
Travelers appreciates that in order to increase performance and professional growth, employees need development opportunities. That’s why Travelers encourages taking advantage of its many employee development opportunities including Leadership Development, Claim University and the Educational Assistance Program.
Employee Development
For those who want to increase their business skills or advance their education, Travelers offers all employees access to myLearning, the company’s online course catalog. It contains more than 3,000 business-sponsored courses and self-study materials, all of which help develop skills and competencies aligned with a specific need in an employee’s development.
Leadership Development
Leadership development is not a random event at Travelers. We recognize that focusing on how we lead the business, others and ourselves are integral to making a good company a great one. Leadership development does this by elevating leader skills, engaging leaders and encouraging leadership excellence.
- For new graduates, Travelers has leadership development programs in five areas – insurance operations, actuarial, financial management, human resources and information technology.
- New managers have access to the company’s “Manager’s Desktop,” which includes links to onboarding and mandatory training.
- Leaders In-synch is an internal site that enables leaders to connect to leadership and professional workshops that assist employees in acquiring skills and competencies aligned with our Enterprise Leadership Competency Model.
Claim University
Claim U, which recently celebrated its second anniversary, is Travelers’ state-of-the-art training facility in Windsor, Conn. Claim U offers both online and hands-on training designed to help Claim professionals skillfully respond to customers’ needs and provide knowledgeable, accurate and efficient claim service.
"Hands-on training gives our claim professionals the skills they need to fully understand the complexities of auto, property and equipment estimating, including any unique circumstances and hidden damages that may exist," said Doreen Spadorcia, executive vice president, Travelers Claim Services.
Take a virtual tour of the realistic labs to see what makes Claim U unique:
- Property Lab – features two full-size furnished homes and a full-size stocked convenience store.
- Automobile Lab – contains approximately 30 damaged vehicles.
- Heavy Equipment Lab – this one-of-a-kind lab houses construction equipment, a crane boom, a dump truck, tractor-trailers, refrigerated truck and other smaller mechanical mock-ups.
Educational Assistance
Eligible salaried employees can receive reimbursement for pre-approved job- and business-related courses through the Educational Assistance Program. This program also covers class tuition, textbooks and required fees for professional designation and certification programs.
