Meet some of our people to find out what life at Travelers is really like.

The 2009 Fortune list of the world’s most admired companies has been published, and Travelers is recognized for the fourth consecutive year. This year, Travelers ranked second in the property casualty industry, moving up from a ranking of third in 2008, fourth in 2007 and tenth in 2006.

Travelers’ 2009 ranking is based on the company’s overall reputation, specifically for social responsibility, quality of products and services, and quality of management.

“We’re honored to be recognized again as a most admired company,” said John Clifford, executive vice president, human resources. “Our continuous movement upward in the industry speaks volumes as to why top candidates are eager to join Travelers.”

To create the most admired industry lists, Fortune and its survey partners at Hay Group asked the experts – in this case, more than 4,040 executives, directors and securities analysts – to select the companies they admire most within their own industry using nine criteria, from investment value to social responsibility. This year only the best are listed – a company's score must rank in the top half of its industry survey.
