Meet Our People
Meet some of our people to find out what life at Travelers is really like.
When our Personal Insurance organization is recruiting new staff for its product development and project management areas, it often looks to - the military. That’s because our managers have found transitional military and junior military officers display the very traits we need.
“They have the educational background, with poised and composed leadership skills and the ability to deal with difficult situations,” said Julie Trowbridge-Dillman, vice president, Personal Insurance Operations. “It’s just a fantastic way of bringing good, mature leadership on board.”
It’s that attitude of doing well by the country and doing good for the company that has again earned Travelers recognition as one of the top military-friendly employers in the country for the second year in a row.
In its Veterans Day announcement, G.I. Jobs named Travelers number 31 on its list of the Top 50 Military-Friendly Employers in the U.S., placing Travelers on a prestigious list that included only 2 percent of the 2,500 eligible employers. The top 50 were selected based on their strong commitment to military hiring and reserve- and guard-friendly policies, according to the magazine.
“It’s really quite simple: the military does a great job preparing these folks and we want them,” said Jim McMahon, director of Talent Acquisition. “At the same time, these people have done so much for our country. It’s the right thing to do.”
Each year, Travelers visits military bases throughout the country looking for a few good men and women to join our team. We’ve also recently partnered with Hire Vets First, Academy Women and Welcome Back Veterans in their efforts to encourage companies to consider military hiring. In addition to military-friendly hiring practices, Travelers is also known for excellent benefits for military personnel, including benefits continuation and leave of absence policies.
If you’re a transitioning member of the armed forces or a military spouse, we hope you’ll consider a career at Travelers. Travelers offers endless opportunities for advancement and development as well as a place where the military skills you’ve acquired - hard work, discipline and pride - are rewarded and recognized.
