Travelers Information Technology Leadership Development Program (ITLDP) is an accelerated four- to five-year rotational program emphasizing leadership development for college graduates looking to pursue a career in Information Technology.

Travelers has more than 3,000 individuals in information systems positions primarily in Hartford, Conn., and Saint Paul, Minn. If you possess a strong motivation to succeed, leadership potential, and a professional and dedicated work ethic, you should consider becoming part of the ITLDP.

Program Components

Participants complete rotations of increasing complexity in technology and business, depending upon prior work experience. The program offers a variety of areas of concentration (e.g., application development, infrastructure and business intelligence) and areas of additional focus within each. A typical rotation is 12 months in length, but rotations can vary in length from four to 15 months. Program participants are required to complete at least one six-month rotation in a Travelers field office.

Participants have opportunities for rotations in information systems and business areas in both applications and enterprise supporting disciplines. Areas include:

  • Business Insurance
  • Claim
  • Enterprise Operations
  • Finance, Enterprise Systems and Services
  • Financial, Professional and International Insurance 
  • IT Production Services
  • Operations, Architecture, Infrastructure Systems
  • Personal Insurance

Training and Development

The ITLDP is multi-faceted, offering a technology, business and management-oriented development curriculum that includes training in cutting-edge technologies, insurance, strategy and leadership. Other program components include formal mentoring, networking and career guidance.

Requirements

Candidates should have a passion for both technology and business and possess an IT-related undergraduate or graduate degree with a preferred GPA of 3.2 or greater.

  • Motivation to succeed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and analytical skills
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States

Throughout our enterprise environment, we use technologies that include JEE, WebSphere, JBoss, .NET, C, C++, Visual Basic, JavaScript, Perl, COBOL, DB2, IMS, Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, advanced telecommunications technologies, and best of breed SAN technologies. We maintain our own presence on the internet with a multi-site Web hosting environment of more than 100 servers. To monitor and protect our environments, we implement extensive disaster recovery plans and leverage advanced intrusion detection technologies to remain abreast of evolving threats.
