Travelers Insurance Operations Leadership Development Program (IOLDP) is a four- to five-year rotational program that employs a curriculum designed to accelerate the development of future leaders in Operations specializing in account management/field underwriting support and policy services. Participants receive hands-on business experience, technical and professional development, enterprise networking opportunities and senior leadership mentoring.
The goal of the IOLDP is to attract and develop individuals with diverse backgrounds and prepare them for responsible leadership positions in Operations. Program participants’ business skills and competencies will include a strong technical foundation in business and technology, as well as high level communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and leadership abilities.
Program Components
The IOLDP offers rotational assignments throughout our organization coupled with cross-program projects, team committee work and consistent exposure to senior management. Program participants experience at least four, one-year rotational positions in such areas as:
- Account Management
- Accounts Receivable
- Agency Administration
- Claim
- Information Technology
- Operational Support
- Policy Services
- Process Engineering
- Risk Management Information Systems
Participants will have exposure to the actuarial, finance, product management and underwriting areas. Each rotation increases in level of responsibility and complexity.
Training and Development
Learning for IOLDP participants continues after they leave their college campuses. Our required coursework includes technical training on topics such as insurance principles, actuarial principles and investment management. In addition to theory, our coursework includes industry and Travelers specific information. We also regularly have speaker forums where key business leaders join us for updates on industry trends and company initiatives.
It is critical for participants to learn from other successful business leaders. In addition to our training opportunities, the IOLDP employs a structured mentoring program where our participants are paired with peer, management and executive mentors and are encouraged to meet regularly to further facilitate career development.
