Travelers Moves Up on Fortune's Most Admired List

The 2008 Fortune list for America’s most admired companies has been published, and Travelers’ rank improved again to fourth in the casualty insurance industry, compared to a ranking of sixth in 2007 and ninth in 2006.

To move up in the rankings, Travelers showed improvement in every category of corporate reputation, including: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, financial soundness, long-term investment and quality of products and services.

“We’re honored to be recognized as a most admired company,” said John Clifford, executive vice president, human resources. “This recognition speaks volumes as to why top candidates are eager to join our company.”

To create most admired industry lists, Fortune and its survey partners at Hay Group asked the experts – in this case, more than 3,300 executives, directors and analysts – to select the companies they admire most within their own industry using eight criteria that range from investment value to social responsibility.
