Bond & Financial Products Underwriter Program

Our Underwriter Program offers a unique and challenging opportunity to develop a successful career through the underwriting and marketing of our Surety and Management Liability insurance products. 

Bond & Financial Products is the largest provider of Surety in the industry, and a leading provider of various Management Liability coverages. Surety Bonds protect a third party (obligee) from the failure of an insured (principal) to perform or fulfill a prescribed obligation. Management Liability Insurance protects companies against claims alleging wrongful acts relating to employment practices, fiduciary (trust relationships) responsibility and other breaches of duty by directors, officers and managers of companies and organizations. We also provide all lines of property and casualty coverage to banks and other financial institutions.

How Does the Trainee Program Work?

Phase 1 – The first phase includes training on the day-to-day operations of the office. As a participant, you’ll also be immersed in the dynamics of underwriting and reviewing files as well as being involved in agency visits. You’ll be assigned to a mentor/coach who’ll provide guidance and direction as you complete self study materials about Bond & Financial Products and your business unit.

Phase 2 – During the second phase, you’ll attend a formal underwriting training session, with case studies and account reviews. You will also take part in Professional Selling Skills, personality types, business etiquette and many other helpful professional development courses. There is also time to interact with a variety of Bond & Financial Products Leadership Team members.

Phase 3 – After the formal training program, you’ll return to your assigned office, where you’ll work with your designated files, accounts, and book of business. During this final phase, you’ll collaborate with peers and managers across the country.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree
• Willing to travel
• Strong customer service orientation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Aptitude toward financial analysis
• Strong analytical skills
• Self-motivated and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Current/valid driver's license
