The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to develop a growing and profitable marketing territory. Achieving success will include: optimizing the growth potential of a core group of Travelers independent agents while prospecting and appointing new agencies; exceeding or meeting year-over-year growth and profit objectives; utilizing Travelers sales tools within a consultative sales framework; developing competitor intelligence; and collaborating with team members in the region, home office and business center on product, pricing and agency management decisions.
The regional sales director (RSD) assists the regional vice president in the strategic management of the agency plant and has primary responsibility for marketing strategy and business development driving profitable growth for the assigned territory. This position is responsible for hiring, coaching and mentoring sales executives to achieve regional goals.
This position is responsible for the development, sales, pricing and profitable underwriting of Personal Lines business for the entire region, as well as the financial management of the region. The regional vice president maximizes profit through the selection and guidance of contracted independent agents; develops and executes departmental and regional strategies for producing profitable Personal Lines business; selects, develops and coaches regional staff; and manages business partnerships with Claim, business centers, other Travelers and PL distribution channels, and corporate business units.
