Since joining Travelers in 1998, I’ve found that I really enjoy the people I work with, the fast pace, the focus on accountability and results, and the positive attitude and energy that permeate the organization.
I joined the company because it was a terrific opportunity to accept a new, challenging role within a Fortune 500 organization. My career at Travelers began in Corporate Communications as the director of marketing communications, followed by a move to Personal Insurance to lead the Retail Marketing unit, and most recently to the newly created role of chief customer experience officer for Personal Insurance.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with people across a variety of cross functional areas and working in a start-up mode as a change agent to influence the organization. This role is also very exciting as it was created in recognition of consumer marketplace dynamics and the need for the business to have a customer orientation. We’ve been successful by focusing on products, services and agents, and like many other respected brands, we will build on that success with a focus on the customer.
My work day is typically comprised of a combination of meetings and dialogues to engage our employees around our new customer orientation, while determining our short-term and long-term strategy to deliver “quick hit” progress with a longer term roadmap.
I think Travelers has a unique culture that fosters hard work and accountability for actions, while respecting the individual and work-life balance. Although my job is fast-paced and keeps me very busy, I am able to spend quality time each day with my husband and two beautiful children and truly have a fulfilling balance.
