Why we sponsor the Travelers Championship

Our company and our employees maintain a strong commitment to the communities in which we live and work. All of the net proceeds from this popular stop on the PGA TOUR go to more than 140 charities throughout the region. Since the tournament began in 1952, the Travelers Championship has raised more than $33 million for charity.

A significant economic driver for the region, this world-class tournament attracts tens of thousands of fans annually, and features four days of international television coverage as the world's best professional golfers vie to become the champion.

Community connection

Our sponsorship of the Travelers Championship directly benefits valuable community initiatives like the Hospital for Special Care (HSC) in Connecticut — which cares for more than 250 Connecticut residents with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive disorder that affects the function of nerves and muscle.

Fun for the family

From interactive exhibits to concerts by acclaimed national acts, the Travelers Championship is more than just a golf tournament. Watch the highlights from 2015.

Supporting Hometown Charities

Travelers is proud to be the hometown title sponsor of the Travelers Championship, which donates 100 percent of net proceeds to charities every year, including The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, which enables children with serious illnesses to enjoy a camping experience. Other programs, such as Birdies for Charity, enable various charitable organizations to raise funds through the tournament.

Bruce Edwards Foundation Benefit Dinner

During tournament week on Friday, August 5, 2016, the Travelers Championship will hold the Bruce Edwards Foundation Benefit Dinner to raise funds for ALS research. The dinner will be hosted by legendary golfer Tom Watson, award-winning sports columnist John Feinstein, and Travelers Chairman Jay Fishman. A native of Wethersfield, Connecticut, Bruce Edwards was a longtime friend and caddy of Watson and actively worked on the PGA TOUR until a few months before his death from ALS. His career as a caddy, which began at the Travelers Championship when it was played at Wethersfield Country Club, and his relationship with Watson became the subject of a best-selling book, “Caddy for Life,” by Feinstein. After Edwards’ death, Feinstein and Watson founded the Bruce Edwards Foundation in his honor to help find a cure for ALS.
