Consumer insurance education

Increasingly unpredictable weather patterns and historic storms like Sandy have reinforced the importance of insurance and of preparing for the unforeseen. But many consumers still feel daunted by the variety of plans and are confused about what types of coverage they might need. At Travelers, we recognize the need for reliable information to help navigate the range of insurance policies.

That's why the Travelers Institute – our public policy division – has published a new Insurance Guide. The Guide provides a toolkit of information about insurance and types of coverage, allowing consumers to put their minds at ease and more easily protect their families and assets. The Guide centralizes educational resources on homeowners and auto insurance, deductibles, the National Flood Insurance Program, and disaster preparedness into a one-stop shop for insurance information.

To help families and businesses better understand these issues, the Travelers Institute is hosting a series of symposia across the country in 2013 and 2014 to bring information directly to consumers.

Insurance isn't just about a policy. It's about the education to prepare, prevent, mitigate and restore.
