How Does It Work? Our Nurses:
Meet in person with the injured employee to discuss their injury and the treatment plan developed by the treating physician
Explain the injured employee’s responsibilities in the claim process including the importance of attending medical appointments
Partner with the treating physician, the employer and the injured employee to identify potential opportunities for return to work, including temporary modified or alternative-duty work

I went to Baylor University, played football, so as a scholarship football athlete. Early in my life, I didn't have enough money to pay for a gym membership to a big, nice club, and so I got a job as an instructor. We've created a really good outdoor cycling program at Life Time Fitness. We have anywhere from 60 to 120 people show up, so it can be an amazingly large ride.
In cycling, everybody tells you it's not a matter of if you're going to crash, it's a matter of when.

We're going down a little bit of a draw, and the guy in front of me, his bike went out. I remember riding over his bike, and I thought, oh, this is not going to be good.

SONIA GARZA: Greg's accident took place on a Saturday morning. We have our outdoor cycle club rides. We've built a community, and our members have relationships with our leaders, with our class instructors. When he was out, it was stressful because you can't replace people. Even though I could get his classes covered, it's not Greg.

GREG NUNN: An ambulance had come. They did X-rays, and they did confirm that I had broken ribs and a collapsed lung. I gave them my regular medical insurance card. I didn't even think about the workers' compensation that Life Time provided through Travelers, because Life Time, I was on the clock with them when this accident happened. And they offered the nurse ConciergeCLAIM program. And I was introduced to the Travelers' ConciergeCLAIM nurse, Susan.

SUSAN MITCHELL: ConciergeCLAIM Nurse program is a comprehensive program that was designed by Travelers. We have a medical case manager nurse positioned at one of the occupational health clinics, and the primary focus is to establish a relationship with this injured worker. And they put their trust in you to direct them, explain, educate-- what does their treatment plan involve? And it helps them to put a face to this complicated world of workers' compensation.
Sports medicine is a philosophy that focuses on keeping that person mobile, active as much as they can be within the realms of their injury. The physical therapy helps keep the muscles, the tendons, the ligaments moving so that they're not getting tight, which can cause problems later.
GREG NUNN: It was really challenging and stressful for my family. And so there was a lot of depression. After I've spent a solid three weeks, I was demoralized. I just felt like, oh my gosh, how much of this am I responsible for? And what's my financial obligation?
SUSAN MITCHELL: His condition was really serious, and you could see his sense of humor dissipate with that, which told me that he really needed that emotional support and encouragement that we were going to take care of him and he was going to get through this.

GREG NUNN: Susan took care of me in so many ways. I just felt to have her be the person that understands what's going on with my insurance and my coverage as well as what's going on with the doctors. So I had a lot of confidence in that.
SONIA GARZA: He's fully recovered. He's riding outdoors with the outdoor cycle club. He's teaching his classes regularly.
