Kicking Off Hurricane Preparedness Season Symposium 2012

In order to mark the beginning of the 2012 hurricane season, the Travelers Institute, in partnership with the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) and Ceres, hosted a national symposium to convene legislators, business, and community leaders to identify solutions for protecting and insuring coastal regions. Discussion topics focused on the economic impact of severe weather on coastal areas. Panelists addressed the current challenges regarding the availability and affordability of coastal insurance and subsequent tax payer exposure as well as disaster preparedness, response and recovery. The event also addressed key lessons learned from the Travelers Institute coastal symposia series held across the country since 2009. Click for a full summary.
