Education

Given that today's students are tomorrow's workforce, education is the primary focus of Travelers' giving.

Literacy CarnivalTravelers supports initiatives that improve academic and career success for underrepresented youth, specifically targeted at public school children in grades five through 12, as well as those in transition to post-secondary education and in the post-secondary learning environment.

Through these efforts, Travelers will better address community and corporate needs for a skilled workforce, sustained economies, and better quality of life. We fund educational initiatives that:

  • Support improved middle and/or high school student academic achievement
  • Develop awareness of and personal readiness for post-secondary education and career options
  • Increase the number of underrepresented students who earn college degrees
  • Build awareness of careers in insurance and financial services

Education Reform

With a commitment to education reform, Travelers works with public schools in Hartford, Conn., and St. Paul, Minn., with three primary goals:

  • Drive system-wide reform: align resources across the system
  • Ensure strong schools: increase effectiveness of leaders, build pool of future school leaders, and increase access to high-quality teacher professional development and innovation
  • Prepare students: increase academic success, increase career preparedness, and reduce barriers to higher education

Since introducing our education strategies in 2009, Travelers and the Travelers Foundation have provided more than $37 million to education-related organizations and initiatives.
