Travelers accepts grant applications exclusively for Hartford, Conn., and St. Paul, Minn., primarily for project, program and operating support and for limited capital opportunities in the following three areas: Education, Community Development and Arts & Culture. Before applying, please review the details related to these focus areas as outlined in our Grantmaking Guidelines.

If your organization is located in or serves Hartford, Conn., or St. Paul, Minn., and falls within the Travelers grantmaking guidelines, please complete our pre-application. Once your pre-application has been reviewed, Travelers will invite full proposals only from those organizations that best align with our community goals and guidelines. Funding requests are accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed quarterly. The 2014 Grant Cycle will open on December 16, 2013, for all applications.
Full applications will be due on the following deadlines, therefore, we recommend you initiate your pre-application at least three weeks before the deadlines for cycles 2, 3 and 4.

In other Travelers locations, we support employee-driven initiatives that provide our colleagues an opportunity to support their local communities through volunteerism. For that reason, we work with our employees to identify key organizations in their communities and do not accept unsolicited applications outside of Connecticut and Minnesota.

Grant reporting requirements

Grantees will be prompted to give information on their previous year's grant when applying for additional funding via the online pre-application form. Typically grant reporting takes place approximately nine months after the grant approval date to allow for the appropriate time to consider your new request. Please be prepared to answer the following grant report questions from your previous year's grant at the time of your new pre-application:

  1. Briefly outline the original goals and objectives, as stated in your proposal.
  2. What progress has the organization made toward the original goals and objectives? And if progress wasn't made in certain areas, why?
  3. What important measurable outcomes happened as a result of this grant?

If your organization is not planning to apply for additional funding for the same program/project, but wishes to report on a previous year's grant, please send an email to the Travelers program officer assigned to your grant addressing the aforementioned questions.
